Rules
A team member is permitted to pull for only one team during the competition. Teams are allowed one coach who is not on the rope but gives guidance on when to pull, when to rest. The coach is not counted in the maximum of 9 people. The competition will commence with the command from the judge "Pick up the rope". At that point, the two teams move back until the rope is taught and the judge confirms the marker flag is over the center mark. When the judge gives the command "Pull" the teams pull with all their strength. The object is to pull with nearly straight arms and legs from as low a position as possible with all members of the team in unison. The winning team is the one who successfully pulls the rope 6 feet toward their side. For safety, closed toed shoes must be worn. No spiked footwear is allowed. No wrapping the rope around hands or fingers. Gloves may be worn. Palms of both hands are to face up. Anchor person may loop rope around one shoulder to secure the rope. No hand over hand pulling allowed. No sitting. Team members are to remain on their feet at all times and no hands are persistently allowed on the ground except the anchor person who is permitted to use one hand on the ground. You may not lower your elbow below the knee level "locking" while pulling the rope. No foul language. First infringement of the rules is given a warning. The second infringement is grounds for disqualification.
