Why we volunteer....
At work I don’t always have the opportunity to use some of the skills that I enjoy using. The Olney Civic Fund provides an opportunity to do things like organize meaningful events, work with a variety of people in the community, and contribute to a local tradition—Olney Days. There are plenty of roles to do what I want and I’ve met some of the greatest people over the years.
-Jim Smith, Chair

I believe just like you make a house a home, you make a place a community. Getting involved with Olney Civic Fund has connected me to Olney, making it my home and my community. I have had the opportunity to work with fantastic people that I would not have had a chance to meet and many are now my closest friends. Being on the Board of Directors and planning events has expanded my skill set in ways traditional classroom experiences could not. I consider it on the job training which benefits other areas of my life.
-Barbara Falcigno, Board of Director and Fundraising Chair

As an accountant in my day job who works with non-profit organizations, I always wanted to give back by working with a local non-profit. When the opportunity arose to help work with the Olney Civic Fund, I couldn't think of a better fit than right in my backyard within the community that my family and I call home.
