2025 Olney Civic Fund Grants
Olney Civic Fund is proud to share $25,000 to support these nonprofits:
Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department will have the funds to update their fire safety trailer enabling them to continue to educate the public on fire safety and what it is like to be in a house fire along with what to do.
The Olney Rotary will install two automated external defibrillators (AEDs) which provides life saving equipment to those who experience a cardiac event when every minute counts. This will complete their project of having one in each of the shopping centers in town.
Sherwood Community Chamber Choir will receive funds to support staff so people of all ages can sing.
Sherwood High School Compostology will reduce food waste by 50% by setting up compost bins in the cafeteria educating the future generation with how to positively impact the environment.
MedStar Montgomery Medical Center will renovate the Addiction and Mental Health Center making it a safer and more welcoming environment for patients and their families.

Where does the money come from that OCF grants out?
Our District 14 delegation was able to get some state funding for Olney Civic Fund to further its mission in supporting Olney non-profits. Additional amounts depend mostly on the weather. Our model for Olney Days depends squarely on the sponsorship of local businesses and citizens. Our sponsors underwrite most of the $55,000 cost of Party in the Park, plus costs for the other events. In 2023, the weather for Party in the Park was amazing, we had record breaking attendance, record breaking sales of beer and wine, record breaking income from parking and games. But, on a rainy day, we’d be lucky to break even. That’s why our sponsors are so critical. Our sponsors sustain the event allowing Olney Civic Fund to raise money for the community.
